K-Fridge Privacy Policy

Overview

K-Fridge ("we", "our", "the app") is a Korean recipe recommendation app. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

Data We Collect

Guest Mode (no account)

• Ingredients you select — stored locally on your device. When no recipe match is found, your selected ingredients may be sent to our server for AI-assisted recipe suggestions via OpenAI (see Third-Party Services below).
• Favorite recipes — stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage.
• Cooking history — records of recipes you mark as cooked, stored locally on your device.
• Blocked users — a list of users you choose to block, stored locally on your device.

Logged-in Users (optional)

• Email address — used for account authentication only.
• Display name — a public name you choose, visible on your Feed posts and profile.
• Favorite recipes — synced to our server (Supabase) so you can access them across devices.
• Cooking history — synced to our server for cross-device access.
• Fridge ingredients — synced to our server for cross-device access.
• Photos and captions — when you post to the Feed, your photos are uploaded to our storage and your captions are stored in our database. These are visible to all app users.

Automatically Collected Data

• Usage analytics — we collect anonymized usage events (such as screens viewed, features used, and recipe interactions) to improve the app experience. These events include your device platform (iOS/Android) but do not include personally identifiable information for guest users.
• Content reports — when you report a post, we store the report reason and your user ID (or "anonymous" for guests) to process moderation requests.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide recipe recommendations based on your selected ingredients.
• To save and sync your favorite recipes, cooking history, and fridge ingredients (if logged in).
• To display your Feed posts to the community (if you choose to post).
• To process content reports and enforce our Community Guidelines.
• To improve the app experience through usage analytics.

Third-Party Services

• Supabase — authentication, data storage, and image hosting for logged-in users. Supabase Privacy Policy
• YouTube Data API — used to display recipe video links. We do not embed videos; we link to YouTube. Google Privacy Policy
• OpenAI API — used for AI-assisted recipe suggestions when no database match is found. Ingredient data is sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI Privacy Policy
• Google AdMob — used to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers, ad interaction data (impressions, clicks), and IP address for approximate location-based ads. On iOS, you will be asked for permission to track your activity for personalized ads via App Tracking Transparency. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they may be less relevant. User-Generated Content

When you post photos and captions to the Feed, this content is publicly visible to all app users. You can delete your own posts at any time. Other users may report posts that violate our Community Guidelines.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with the third-party services listed above for functional purposes.

Data Retention

• Guest data — stored on your device until you delete the app.
• Account data — retained until you delete your account. You can delete your account from within the app (My Kitchen > Delete Account), which removes your authentication record, posts, post images, and favorites.

Children's Privacy

K-Fridge is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Rights

You can:

• Use the app without creating an account (guest mode).
• Delete your account and all associated data from within the app (My Kitchen > Delete Account).
• Delete individual Feed posts you have created.
• Block other users to hide their posts from your Feed.
• Clear local data by uninstalling the app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and on this page.
